Alleged brothel wins its appeal

WAGGA City Council’s first attempt to close down a massage parlour which allegedly provides sex services has failed in the courts.

Council will now explore other options with its solicitors to shut down the Asian Rose on Hammond Avenue.

In the NSW Land and Environment Court in Sydney this week, the operators of the Asian Rose were successful in their appeal to keep the business open.

An order served on the business in April to cease all operations within five days was deemed to be “too extreme” by the court.

“The proprietor of the business appealed the order (from council) and that resulted in the order being revoked by the Land and Environment Court … because the order was to close down the entire business operation whereas they do have development application approval for remedial massage,” council’s Heidi Clarke said.

Council’s original orders were to “cease all use of the building for business purposes, in particular, the use of the premises for massage and paid sexual usage”.

Asian Rose advertises as the “best in town” under escort services in the Yellow Pages.

Saxons on Saxons which is a “gentlemen’s finest house of pleasure” and Centrefolds XXX advertise in the same section.

The Daily Advertiser made numerous attempts to speak with management at Asian Rose yesterday without

success.

HUNG UP: The man who answered the phone yesterday at the Asian Rose massage parlour hung up on The Daily Advertiser. He said the Advertiser had the wrong number but the one dialled by the Advertiser was straight out of the Yellow Pages.
